Access and permissions
What Metascheduler asks Shopify for, when it asks, and how to grant or revoke each kind of access.
Metascheduler asks for as little as it can. At install it needs only metaobjects and rollouts. Everything else is optional: it asks the first time you add that kind of change, and you can revoke it whenever you like.
Find your access
Open Settings > Access. Each row shows a group of access, what it's for, and its state: Always on, Granted, Partly granted or Not granted, with Grant access or Revoke.
What each row covers
| Row | For | Shopify access |
|---|---|---|
| Metaobjects (always on) | Metaobject status and content | read_metaobjects, write_metaobjects, read_metaobject_definitions |
| Rollouts (always on) | Your rollouts on the calendar, and following them | read_rollouts |
| Products and prices | Product status, prices, tags and sales channels | read_products, write_products, read_publications, write_publications |
| Online store | Menus, pages, blog posts and policies | read_online_store_navigation, write_online_store_navigation, read_online_store_pages, write_online_store_pages, read_legal_policies, write_legal_policies |
| Locations and markets | Metafields on locations and markets | read_locations, write_locations, read_markets, write_markets |
| Rollout details | Naming the themes, discounts and checkouts a rollout changes | read_themes, read_discounts, read_checkout_and_accounts_configurations |
Find what you need:
When the app asks
- In setup, for the kinds of change you pick.
- In the editor, when you add a change type without access: it shows Needs access and Grant access.
- On a resource page, when Schedule a change needs it.
- In Needs you, when a schedule couldn't run because access was missing.
Each time, Shopify shows its own permission prompt. Nothing changes until you approve it.
Revoking access
Select Revoke on a row. Schedules that need it can't make those changes until you grant it again, and each one shows in Needs you when it tries.
If Shopify stops the app's access to your store (for example after a long time without opening it), scheduled changes can't run. Metascheduler emails your store's address, at most twice, to ask you to open the app. Opening it is all it takes.
