# The calendar for every change Rollouts can't make

> Schedule prices, menus, pages, products, metaobjects and more. Metascheduler makes each change on time, and puts it back when the window ends.

## Rollouts changes the theme. Metascheduler changes everything else.

Shopify Rollouts schedules themes, checkout, discounts and catalogs. It can't touch your menus, prices, pages or products, and apps can't add to it. Metascheduler fills that gap, on the rollout's clock or its own.

**Shopify Rollouts**

- Themes
- Checkout and accounts
- Discounts
- Catalogs

Metascheduler shows your rollouts on its calendar and never changes them.

**Metascheduler**

- Prices and compare-at prices
- Product status
- Sales channels
- Navigation menus
- Pages and blog posts
- Metaobjects and metafields
- Store policies
- Tags

Follow a rollout: your changes start when it starts, and revert when it ends.

## Plan it once. It happens on time.

Everything a campaign, launch or seasonal change needs, built into your Shopify admin.

- **Calendar first**: See every schedule and every Shopify rollout on one calendar, by month, week, day or agenda.
- **Every change can be undone**: We save what each change replaced, and put it back when the window ends.
- **Never overwrites your edits**: If someone changes something while a schedule runs, we ask before putting the old value back.
- **See it before it happens**: Preview each change now, at the start and at the end, and spot clashes with other schedules and rollouts.
- **On time, exactly once**: Each start and end runs once, retries when Shopify is busy, and handles late runs safely.
- **Works with Shopify Flow**: Run workflows when a schedule starts, ends, fails or finds an edit. Start schedules from Flow.
- **Right where you work**: Schedule a change from a product, variant or collection page, or for products you select in the list.
- **Your language, your time zone**: In 20 languages. Each schedule keeps its own time zone, daylight saving included.

## Twelve kinds of change, one calendar

Pick what to change, choose the items, and decide what happens when the schedule ends.

### Content

- **Metaobject status**: Set entries to Active or Draft, to show or hide them on your online store.
- **Metaobject fields**: Change the fields you check on each entry. Everything else stays as it is.
- **Metafield value**: Set a metafield on products, variants, collections, pages, blog posts, locations, markets or your store.

### Catalog

- **Product status**: Set products to Active, Draft, Unlisted or Archived.
- **Product sales channels**: Publish products to sales channels, or unpublish them, channel by channel.
- **Collection sales channels**: Publish a collection to sales channels, or unpublish it.
- **Variant prices** (Paid plans): Set a price, or take a percentage or an amount off. Round to .99 and show the old price as the compare-at price.
- **Tags**: Add and remove tags on products and blog posts. Only the tags it changed are put back.

### Online store

- **Navigation menu**: Swap a menu's items for another menu's, or edit them, up to three levels deep.
- **Page**: Publish or unpublish a page, or change its title, content and template.
- **Blog post**: Publish or unpublish a post, or change its content, excerpt and image.
- **Store policy** (Paid plans): Replace a policy's text while the schedule runs, like holiday returns.

## Three steps from idea to done

Start from a date on the calendar, a template or a Shopify rollout.

1. **Choose when**: One time, a window with a start and an end, a repeat, or follow a Shopify rollout. Each schedule has its own time zone.
2. **Add your changes**: Pick a change type and the items it changes, then what happens at the end: revert, set something else, or keep.
3. **Schedule it**: Metascheduler makes the change at the start and reverts it at the end. Activity lists every item, before and after.

## Every change can be undone, and nothing gets clobbered

Before Metascheduler changes anything, it saves what was there. At the end, it checks before it puts it back.

- **It saves what it replaces**: Each item's value is saved just before the change, so the end can restore it exactly.
- **It checks before it reverts**: If the live value isn't what Metascheduler wrote, someone else changed it, so it's left alone.
- **It asks you, once**: The edit shows in Needs you: restore the old value anyway, or keep what's there now.

## Frequently asked questions

### How is this different from Shopify Rollouts?

Rollouts schedules themes, checkout, discounts and catalogs, and its API is read-only, so apps can't add changes to it. Metascheduler schedules the rest: prices, menus, pages, products, metaobjects and more. A schedule can follow a rollout, starting when it starts and reverting when it ends.

### What if someone edits something while a schedule is live?

At the end, Metascheduler checks the live value. If it isn't what Metascheduler wrote, it leaves your edit alone and asks you in Needs you whether to restore the old value anyway or keep the current one.

### Which time zone do schedules use?

Each schedule has its own time zone, your store's by default. Times are wall-clock times in that zone, so a 9:00 start stays at 9:00 when the clocks change.

### What happens if a run is late?

A start that's a few minutes late runs normally. A later start still runs if its window hasn't ended, and is marked late. If the window has already ended, it's skipped and shows in Needs you. An end always runs, because putting things back is the safe direction.

### What access does the app need?

Only metaobjects and rollouts at install. Everything else, like products or menus, is asked for when you first schedule that kind of change, and you can revoke it in the app's settings.

### What happens when I uninstall?

Changes the app has made stay in place, and changes due to be reverted later aren't reverted. Shopify asks us to delete your store's data 48 hours after you uninstall, and we do.
