# Example: Black Friday with a rollout

> A whole campaign on one clock. Shopify Rollouts swaps the theme; Metascheduler swaps the menu, drops prices, changes the homepage and the refund policy, and puts it all back.

This example puts a Black Friday campaign together from start to finish. It uses a plan with variant prices and store policies (Extra or Unlimited).

## The plan

| What | Made by | When |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Black Friday theme | Shopify Rollouts | Thursday 00:00 to Monday 23:59 |
| Sale prices, 20% off, shown as on sale | Metascheduler | With the rollout |
| Main menu swapped for the Black Friday menu | Metascheduler | With the rollout |
| Homepage hero heading | Metascheduler | With the rollout |
| Holiday refund policy | Metascheduler | With the rollout |
| Gift guide collection on every channel | Metascheduler | With the rollout, kept afterwards |

Everything except the gift guide reverts when the rollout ends.

## Before the week

### 1. Create the rollout in Shopify

In your Shopify admin, go to **Markets > Rollouts** and create the rollout with the Black Friday theme and its dates. Metascheduler sees it within a few minutes, under **Rollouts**.

### 2. Build the Black Friday menu

In **Online Store > Navigation**, build a menu called `Black Friday menu`. Metascheduler copies its items into your main menu when the rollout starts.

### 3. Open the rollout in Metascheduler

In **Rollouts**, open it and select **Add changes to this rollout**. Name the schedule `Black Friday`. Under **When the rollout ends**, choose **Revert my changes**.

## Add the changes

Add one change for each line of the plan. They run in this order at the start.

### 1. Prices

**Variant prices** on the sale products: **Take a percentage off**, 20, **Round down to .99**, compare-at price **Set to the price before the change**. At the end: **Revert**.

### 2. Menu

**Navigation menu** on your main menu: **Copy another menu**, `Black Friday menu`. At the end: **Revert**.

### 3. Homepage

**Metaobject fields** on the homepage hero entry: check the heading and type `Black Friday: 20% off everything`. At the end: **Revert**.

### 4. Refund policy

**Store policy**, **Refund policy**: paste the holiday text. Select **Copy** to start from the current text. At the end: **Revert**.

### 5. Gift guide

**Collection sales channels** on the gift guide: **Publish** to each channel. At the end: **Keep**.

Check the **Preview** in the summary for a few variants, and look under **Conflicts** and **Warnings**. If the rollout also turns on a discount, the editor warns that prices may clash: decide whether buyers should get both. Then select **Schedule**.

## During the week

When the rollout becomes active, the schedule goes **Live** and **Activity** lists every item it changed. If a teammate extends the homepage heading on Sunday, that's fine: at the end, Metascheduler leaves their edit alone and asks you in **Needs you**.

## Afterwards

When the rollout concludes, prices, the menu, the homepage and the policy go back to what they were, and the gift guide stays published. Next year, open the schedule and select **Duplicate**.

> **Rehearse it**
>
> Make a copy with a short **Window** an hour from now on a few test products, and watch it start and revert in **Activity**.
